I’m Maia Muriel, born and raised in Ushuaia, from a family of early settlers and a lifelong hospitality entrepreneur. For years, I’ve been promoting an environmental movement to enhance quality of life. And today, I’d love to invite you to be part of the solution during your visit.

How can you join?

The island of Tierra del Fuego is the first province in Argentina to go free of single-use disposables.

We’ve made this possible thanks to the deep environmental commitment of our community, and we’d love for you to be part of this positive change. Our aim is to reduce the amount of unnecessary waste we create through everyday habits—waste that ends up accumulating on our beloved island, especially single-use plastics.

The invitation is simple: we encourage you to sign a pledge to reduce your plastic footprint during your stay with us. And to make it easier, we’ll share a few friendly tips to help you along the way.

Sign Commitment

By signing the pledge, you will receive an email with a copy of it & recommendations to help you put it into practice during your trip. Thank you for joining the travelers who choose to protect the End of the World from plastic waste!

How to reduce your plastic footprint while travelling

COFFEE CUP

Bring your own coffee cup while travelling by plane or any takeaway drink during your trip. In Ushuaia you will get 10% discount in some coffee shops. #TuTazaVale Campaign

WATER BOTTLE

BYO reusable plastic bottle instead of buying plastic one. Refill at your lodging.

SHOPPING BAG

BYO reusable bag or ask at your lodging to borrow one. Plastic bags are banned in Ushuaia, so please, refuse them if handled.

REUSE YOUR TABLEWARE

Disposable tableware as straws, cups, cutlery & containers are forbidden while eating inside any stores in Ushuaia. Refuse them and ask for reusable tableware.

BATHROOM AMENITIES

BYO bathroom personal items or choose hotels that offer you a rechargeable bath amenities system and do not offer small plastic single use containers. Delivery of plastic cotton buds is banned in Ushuaia.

NO STRAWS PLEASE

Ask your drinks without plastic straws. They are banned in Ushuaia.

PLASTIC FREE BREAKFAST

Choose lodging that offers you breakfast without using single use plastic containers at breakfast.

CIGARETTE BUTTS

Please keep your cigarette butts until the next bin. They are highly polluted and fauna confused them with food.

Founder

Maia Muriel

Licenciada en Turismo USAL, con diplomado en Turismo Sostenible. Profesional con más de 25 años de experiencia en marketing hotelero y gestión de proyectos turísticos.
Galardonada con el Premio Berta Cáceres, Senado de la Nación Argentina en 2020 y reconocida por la Legislatura Provincial en 2023 por su compromiso ambiental e impacto en la comunidad.
Owner of "Tierras de Leyendas Boutique Hotel" , emprendimiento reconocido por su calidad de servicio y compromiso con prácticas sostenibles desde 2005.
Fundadora del Movimiento Ambiental "A Limpiar Ushuaia"  liderando iniciativas de concientización, voluntariado, educación y proyectos de ordenanza ambientales desde 2016.  
Profesora Gestión Hotelera. Panelista en foros turismo sostenible y en diversos conversatorios sobre contaminación por plásticos.

Veky Bronzovich

Licenciada en Turismo, con formación complementaria en Derecho, integrando una mirada estratégica sobre el desarrollo territorial y la gestión de proyectos.
Fundadora de Baqueanos de Tierra del Fuego, iniciativa orientada a revalorizar el conocimiento local, el vínculo con el territorio y las prácticas sostenibles en entornos naturales.
Miembro activa de la Red Mujeres Rurales, participando en espacios de articulación y fortalecimiento del rol de la mujer en el desarrollo productivo y social.
Disertante en el panel “Proyectos: Vos podés transformar la realidad” at the Primer Congreso Internacional Red Mujeres Rurales - ExpoAgro 2025, aportando su experiencia en la generación de proyectos con impacto territorial
